UNC Asheville will host a talk on "Angels and Demons in the Dead
Sea Scrolls" by Biblical scholar Carol Newsome at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at UNCA’s Owen Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Newsome, who holds a doctorate from Harvard University, is professor of Old Testament at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. She is an expert in the field of Biblical literature, especially the book
of Job and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Her numerous publications include "Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice: A Critical Edition," "Qumran Cave 4: VI; Poetical and Liturgical Texts, Part 1" and "Angelic Liturgy: Songs
of the Sabbath Sacrifice."

Newsome’s talk is sponsored by UNCA’s Humanities Student Association, Humanities Program, Center for Jewish Studies and the Honors Program.
