Theatre UNCA Presents "MASTER HAROLD...and the boys" February 27-March 3
Theatre UNC Asheville presents a production of Athol Fugard’s "MASTER HAROLD...and the boys" February 27-March 3 in UNCA’s Carol Belk Theatre. Directed by UNCA Drama department Chair Scott E. Walters, the show stars sophomore Michael Ackerman, freshman John Jacobs and senior Terhan McDaniel. "MASTER HAROLD...and the boys," Fugard’s powerful autobiographical drama, is set in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in the 1950s. It tells the story of a young white student’s struggle with apartheid and his relationship with two black waiters in his mother’s restaurant. Considered Fugard’s masterpiece, the play sensitively examines how the web of human relationships can be undermined by bigotry. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $9 general admission, $7 senior citizens and $5 students. Because of the intimate size of UNCA's Carol Belk Theatre and often heavy demand for tickets, advance purchase is strongly advised. Tickets may be purchased by phone with Visa or MasterCard after February 21, by calling 828/232-2291 between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. Tickets are also available at the box office 90 minutes before curtain and online. For more information, call the UNCA Drama Department at 828/251-6610. Media Contacts:
