U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band to Perform at UNCA

The highly acclaimed U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at
UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The ensemble will perform traditional American classics, rousing marches and Big Band Era tunes. The concert is free and open to the public.

The U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band is widely 
known for its exceptional performances and more than 30 recordings. Formed in 1941, the unit consists of 61 active-duty personnel. Each year the band travels over
30,000 miles, performing an average of 500 times for more than one million people throughout a seven state region from New Jersey to South Carolina.

The band performs under the direction of Commander and Conductor Major Larry H. Lang. A Texas native, Lang holds a degree in music education and performance from New Mexico State University-Las Cruces. He was named conductor of the U.S. Air Force Heritage Band of America in 1995.

The event is sponsored by UNCA’s Music Department and the Cultural and Special Events Committee.
