UNCA Hosts Folkmoot USA July 20-21;
Tickets on Sale for Only Asheville Performances

UNC Asheville will host the only Asheville tour stop of the celebrated Folkmoot USA troupes at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21. The programs will take place in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium and are open to the public. Because of the intimate size of Lipinsky Auditorium, advance ticket purchase is advised.

Voted a "Top 20 Event" by the Southeast Tourism Society, Folkmoot USA features folk dance, music and culture from around the world. Patterned after classic European festivals, dancers and musicians from across the globe come to share their cultural heritage with colorful native costumes and unique musical instruments. Depending on travel and visa situations, some 350 artists from Egypt, Israel, Macedonia, Manchuria, Mexico, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Spain, Turkey, the United States and Uzbekistan will perform.

Tickets are on sale now for these two special performances. General admission tickets are $15 or $20 and are available at UNCA's Office of Student Life as well as the Folkmoot USA office in Waynesville. Special prices for UNCA students and youths 12 and under are also available.
