Family Business Forum Hosts Workshop with Tom Campbell

UNC Asheville’s Family Business Forum will host a breakfast program with Tom Campbell of the Family Business Institute in Raleigh on Thursday, April 25, at Asheville’s Grove Park Inn. The event is open to Forum members and their guests; a limited number of seats are available for family business owners interested in membership.

One of the co-founders of the Family Business Institute, Campbell will discuss "The Three Dimensions of Family Business." Campbell’s experience as assistant treasurer of the State of North Carolina and 24 years as principal in his own family’s broadcasting business will guarantee real life examples to back up his discussion of hiring, training and development.

Active in civic affairs such as the Rotary Club, the Salvation Army Board of Directors and N.C. Public Television Foundation, Campbell is also the co-author of "You Don’t Have to Die to Win - Succession for Family Business." He produced numerous audio cassettes for family business and has a weekly talk show titled "N.C. Spin," that airs on selected North Carolina television stations.

UNCA’s Family Business Forum, the first program of its kind in the region, was developed to enhance the continued viability of family-owned businesses in the Asheville area. Membership in the forum is open to firms that have a family member with controlling interest in the business and at least one family member currently employed in the business. In addition to seminars and workshops, members will receive current research and articles on family business issues, a quarterly newsletter, and the opportunity to network with other family-owned business members who face similar challenges of perpetuating family business.

Registration for the workshop is required. For more information or to register, call Richard Lasher at 828/251-6797, voice box 8003.
