UNCA Knowledge Bowl Holds Final Rounds November 2The final rounds of the 35th annual UNC Asheville Knowledge Bowl gets under way at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Karpen Hall on the UNCA campus. Brevard, Enka, Polk County, Shelby, St. Stephens, T.C. Roberson High School and Wilkes Central (two teams) high schools advance out of 21 teams to compete in the head to head double elimination round. The winning team receives $400 and the opportunity to move on to a national competition. Each school sends teams of six students to answer an array of questions written by UNCA faculty members on topics ranging from science and mathematics to history and literature. More than 25 UNCA faculty members and 25 UNCA students have volunteered for the event. If you’d like to try some arm chair competition, sample questions are listed below. ** What was the first civilization to develop writing? ** Which endocrine gland, located at the base of the hypothalamus,
produces growth hormone? ** Two liters contain how many cubic centimeters? ** What is the smallest positive angle for which the tangent function
