UNCA Hosts Two Evenings of Dance Performances by
Students, Faculty and Friends
At 8 p.m. Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6, UNC Asheville’s
Dance Program will host "The Last Blast," two evenings of dance
performance by UNCA students, faculty and staff in the Highsmith Student
Center. "The Last Blast" will be the final cultural event in the
Highsmith Center prior to its closing for renovations. Tickets are $5 at
the door and will benefit the Dance Program.
A different performance will be given each night from an eclectic
sampling of styles, including traditional African and Middle Eastern
dances, clogging and break dancing. Special highlights will include a
performance by UNCA Dance Program instructors Susan Haines and Connie
Schrader with guest artist Brad Parquette.
The UNCA Dance Program’s course of study is designed for students who
wish develop their personal skill and interest in dance as well as for
those who wish to enhance career possibilities through acquiring
particular expertise. UNCA’s dance minor is designed to complement the
university’s liberal arts focus by encouraging students to consider
connections between their major studies and interest in the art and
practice of dance.
