| For Immediate Release August 30, 2001 UNCA's Super Saturday Program
Offers Super Classes for Kids Gifted, creative and motivated 3rd-8th graders have an opportunity to explore martial arts, chemistry, pottery and much more at UNC Asheville’s 15th annual Super Saturday Program beginning October 6. The program has helped more than 10,000 children from across Western North Carolina explore their interests through hands-on learning on the UNCA campus. New this year are a variety of unique courses. Budding artists can explore animation, creative writing, drama, papermaking and video puppetry. Students interested in science can take classes in dinosaur archeology, ecology, human anatomy, physics and meteorology. For those who love numbers, "Mystical Math for Modern Maidens" and "Software Math Fun" will be available. Many favorite courses from previous years will also be offered, including classes exploring computers and the science of model rocketry. Several UNCA faculty members and upper-level students teach Super Saturday classes, along with outstanding public school teachers, educators, and other professionals. Super Saturday classes meet 9 a.m.-noon for six consecutive Saturdays beginning October 6. All students are welcome to apply. Tuition is $55 per class. Deadline to apply is September 28.
