| For Immediate Release June 19, 2001 UNCA's Concerts on the Quad Continues with Roger Day June 25 Roger Day, a favorite on both the college and children’s music circuit, will continue UNC Asheville’s Concerts on the Quad entertainment series with shows at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday, June 25, on UNCA’s main quadrangle. Both performances are free and open to the public. Day embodies zany, infectious fun through his action-packed, chart-topping tunes like "Jump Up & Turn Around" and "Mosquito Burrito." Day, who performs free children’s shows across the nation, was recently awarded the prestigious Harry Chapin Award for Contributions to Humanity. His latest album features back-up vocals by the Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray and Nashville singer Nanci Griffith. Now in its 19th season, UNCA’s Concerts on the Quad brings fun to the entire family on Mondays evenings through July 9. The public is invited to bring picnics, blankets and lawn chairs as they relax on the quad. Snacks and drinks may be purchased on the quad during the shows. With between 500 and 2,000 people attending each concert, lawn-chair seating will be separate from blanket seating in order to preserve sight lines. In case of rain, the concerts will be held in Lipinsky Auditorium, which has limited seating. Due to campus road construction, handicap access to the Quad from Lipinsky Hall is partially obstructed. For alternate access directions, please call Barbara Halton at 828/251-6674. For more information about the Concerts on the Quad series, call UNCA’s Office of Student Life at 828/232-5000 or click on here. Media Contacts:
