UNCA to Host Race Wave Forum March 31

UNC Asheville and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) will host "Race Wave: Voices Coming Together for Change" Saturday, March 31, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The event is open to the public.

Through a variety of innovative programs, the day-long forum will explore the effects of racist behaviors; propose actions that can move communities toward equity; and specify steps necessary for implementing reconciliation. Break-out sessions will give participants the opportunity to discuss topic such as violence against women, white privilege, institutional racism, and overcoming cultural barriers. Other events include interactive art displays, music and dance, a poetry reading, and a performance by the Theatre of the Oppressed, a world renown theater form which features audience interaction.

Participants may register the day of the conference, beginning at 8 a.m. in the lobby of Lipinsky Hall. The $10 registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
