UNCA to Screen "Promises" Documentary;
Film Explores Children's Perspectives on Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

UNC Asheville will present a screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary "Promises" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. A reception will precede the screening beginning at 6 p.m. in Lipinsky Hall lobby. The event is free and open to the public.

"Promises" explores how war has affected Israeli and Palestinian children living in Jerusalem today. Through candid interviews, seven children describe their thoughts about war, peace and growing up. Variety magazine said, "‘Promises’ provides deeply humanistic insight into the complexities of the Middle East conflict that political analysis or front-line news coverage often lacks."

This event was made possible by P.O.V., the acclaimed independent non-fiction film series on PBS. The screening is presented in cooperation with UNC-TV and "Promises" film makers Carlos Bolado, B.Z. Goldberg and Justine Shapiro.
