| For Immediate Release February 8, 2001 Theatre UNCA Presents "Miss Julie" Feb. 22-25 Theatre UNCA’s presents its production of August Strindberg’s 1888 classic, "Miss Julie," Feb. 22-25 in UNCA’s Carol Belk Theatre. This compelling and emotionally charged psychological drama artfully explores class distinction, gender identity and the battle of the sexes. Directed by UNCA Assistant Drama Professor Laura Facciponti, "Miss Julie" portrays the downfall of a beautiful, aristocratic young woman. Following the dissolution of her wedding engagement, Julie joins the manor’s servants for a riotous Midsummer celebration. There she engages in a perilious and manipulative game of seduction with Jean, the distinguished valet who has been coveting her for years. Ultimately, Julie is forced to face her inner struggle between free will, societal standards and personal responsibility. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $9 general admission, $7 senior citizens and $5 students. Because of the intimate size of UNCA’s Carol Belk Theatre and often heavy demand for tickets, advance purchase is strongly advised. Tickets may be purchased by phone with Visa or MasterCard after Feb. 15, by calling 828/232-2291 between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. Tickets are also available at the box office 90 minutes before curtain and online. For more information, contact the UNCA Drama Department, 828/251-6610. Media Contacts:
