| For Immediate Release October 30, 2001 Leadership Haywood Now Accepting Applications Applications are now being accepted for Leadership Haywood 14, a community leadership development program specifically designed for people who care about the future of Haywood County. Leadership Haywood is one of the Leadership Programs of UNC Asheville Now in its 14th year, Leadership Haywood addresses issues affecting the future of Haywood County and prepares and motives participants to become actively involved in community decision-making processes. The program includes an all-day opening retreat on January 15, 2002, followed by seven half-day sessions on topics covering governance, health and environment, the arts and non-profit organizations, economic development, history, and education. There are also sessions on leadership skill development and an optional overnight trip to Raleigh. The cost of Leadership Haywood 14 is $350. Tuition is payable by an employer, a sponsoring organization, or the participant and covers all materials, notebooks and refreshments. Tuition does not cover the trip to Raleigh. A limited number of partial scholarships available. Application deadline is November 16.
