UNCA to Hold Flea Market to Benefit Adopt-A-Minefield Campaign

UNC Asheville Humanities 414.010 class and the WNC United Nations Association will hold a flea market from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, on the UNCA campus. Sales proceeds from this UNCA service learning project will benefit the Adopt-a-Minefield Campaign.

Items will be for sale in the student parking lot, located on University Heights, near Ramsey Library. Donations are welcome. Additional sales space will be available for a rental fee of $15. Families or organizations who rent space may keep the sales from their tables.

The Adopt-A-Minefield Campaign engages individuals, community groups and businesses in the United Nations to remove landmines around the world. Some 60 million landmines are scattered across 70 countries worldwide, which kill or maim nearly 26,000 civilians each year.

For more information or to reserve a space, contact Linda Cornett, UNCA assistant political science professor and event organizer, at 828/251-6816.
