| For Immediate Release May 8, 2001 UNCA's Writers at Home Series Presents
Sebastian Matthews UNCA’s Writers at Home reading series continues at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Malaprop’s Bookstore/Cafe, 55 Haywood St., downtown Asheville with readings by local authors Sebastian Matthews and Kathy Sheldon. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of the Western North Carolina writers’ community and UNC Asheville’s Creative Writing Program. The program is free and open to the public. Matthews, a graduate of the University of Michigan creative writing program, is an adjunct professor at Warren Wilson College. His first two books, "The Green Man Walks Across America" and "The Poetry Blues: The Essays and Interviews of William Matthews," are due out later this year. Matthews’ poetry and prose have appeared in numerous journals, including "The Atlantic Monthly," "Brilliant Corners" and "New England Review." A graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, Sheldon writes poetry, fiction and nonfiction. She has taught writing at the University of Iowa, Warren Wilson College and the Asheville Poetry Festival.
