Local Authors Cynn Chadwick and Peggy B. Parris to Read
at Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe Jan. 21

UNCA’s Writers at Home reading series continues at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Malaprop’s Bookstore/Cafe, 55 Haywood St., downtown Asheville with readings by Cynn Chadwick and Peggy B. Parris. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of the Western North Carolina writers’ community and UNC Asheville’s Creative Writing Program. The program is free and open to the public.

Cynn Chadwick, UNCA Literature and Language adjunct instructor, earned a M.F.A. degree from Goddard College. Her short stories and essays have appeared in a variety of journals, including Words of Wisdom, Obscure and Writer’s Gazette. Chadwick is currently working as co-editor of the anthology "Little Lessons from the Big House," a collection of writings by UNCA students, including inmates from the Foothills Correctional Institution, a maximum security facility for men.

Poet and novelist Peggy B. Parris taught fiction writing for more than 20 years. Hoping to write full-time, she recently retired from UNCA, where she was a Feldman Distinguished Professor. Her first novel, "Waltzing in the Attic," was released in the United States, the United Kingdom and throughout Europe. Her second, "His Arms are Full of Broken Things," was published in England and named a best book by the London Daily Mail.
