| For Immediate Release October 30, 2001 UNCA Professor Receives Grant, Work Featured on NPR Tim Haden, UNC Asheville artist-in-residence and coordinator of jazz studies, recently received a $7,500 grant from the Hurt Education Fund. Haden will use the grant to pursue advanced studies in jazz arranging and composition. The grant was awarded based on arrangements and compositions written for the guitar trio Triad, UNCA’s Jazz Lab Big Band and a new CD "No Regrets," featuring jazz vocalist Peggy Lyn-Haden. Organized and directed by Haden, Triad was recently featured on NPR’s "Jazz Set" hosted by Bradford Marsalis. Haden studied music at Mars Hill College, the Berklee College of Music and the University of South Carolina. He performed with jazz artists Keith Jarrett and Maynard Furguson and pop artists Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight and many others as a staff musician for Motown Records from 1965-1970 and since has toured and performed with a number of other national acts.
