UNCA’s University Teaching Council last week honored five faculty members for excellence in teaching. The awards were based on several factors, including student and faculty nominations, teaching records and letters of support.

Those honored are: Virginia Derryberry, assistant professor of art, Award for Excellence in Teaching the Arts and Humanities; Katherine Whatley, physics professor, Award for Excellence in Teaching the Natural Sciences; Melissa Himelein, associate professor of psychology, Award for Excellence in Teaching the Social Sciences; Dolly Mullen, assistant professor of political science, Award for Excellence in Teaching, Untenured Faculty; and Dale Roberts, Key Center for Service Learning director, Award for Excellence in Teaching, Non-Full-Time Faculty.
