Theatre UNCA Presents "Equus" Sept. 27-30

Theatre UNCA’s presents its production of Peter Shaffer’s award-winning play "Equus" Sept. 27-30 in UNCA’s Carol Belk Theatre. Directed by UNCA Associate Drama Professor Rob Bowen, "Equus" depicts the story of a deranged youth who blinds six horses with a spike. Through a psychiatrist's analysis of the events, Shaffer creates a chilling portrait of how materialism and convenience have killed humanity’s capacity for worship and passion and, consequently, the capacity for pain.

This show is for mature audiences only. No one under 17 admitted without being accompanied by a parent. Identification required.

Curtain is at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $9 general admission, $7 senior citizens and $5 students. Because of the intimate size of UNCA’s Carol Belk Theatre and often heavy demand for tickets, advance purchase is strongly advised. Tickets may be purchased by phone with Visa or MasterCard after Sept. 20, by calling 828/232-2291 between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. Tickets are also available at the box office 90 minutes before curtain and online here.  <www.unca.edu/drama>.
