| For Immediate Release December 18, 2001 UNCA to Host World-Famous Cornell Glee Club January 13 The Cornell Alumni Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains and UNC Asheville Alumni Association will host the world-famous Cornell University Glee Club in concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2002, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The concert and following reception are open to the public. Founded in 1868, the Cornell University Glee Club is recognized as one of the premiere collegiate ensembles in the world. The 45-voice male choir has performed on concert tours throughout the United States and in more than 20 countries, including the People’s Republic of China, Germany, Great Britain, the Soviet Union and Japan. The group’s repertoire ranges from liturgical folks songs and works of the Renaissance period to modern compositions written expressly for the choir. Conductor Scott Tucker, Cornell’s director of choral music, also leads the university’s Chorus and Chamber Singers. He previously served as choral director at the Milton Academy and as assistant conductor of the Harvard Glee Club. He holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music. General admission tickets are $10; tickets for students, faculty and staff of all educational institutions are $5. Tickets for a special post-concert dinner with Glee Club members are $15.
