| For Immediate Release May 16, 2001 UNCA Offers Two Summer Computer Courses UNC Asheville will offer two summer computer courses in partnership with CrossLogic Corp., an Asheville-based information technology consulting firm. Both classes will meet in the Aston Park Building, 53 S. French Broad Ave. and will be taught by Russ Stinehour, CrossLogic president and CEO. The courses are open to the public. "Java2 Certification Training" will meet from 6-9:30 p.m. Mondays May 28-Aug. 13. Java applications have become the new benchmark of code portability in client-server environments. This certification course is designed for the working professional to successfully master concepts and achieve Java2 certification. Certification in Java application is a recognized industry credential and a building block to other certifications. Students should have previous experience in a programming language and have an understanding of some of the basic principles of object-oriented technology. "Java2 Certification Training" by CrossLogic Corp. is the only required text. Participants will earn one UNCA academic credit. Fees include a visiting student application fee of $20 and tuition and fees of $88.59. "Programming with XML" will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays from May 31- July 19. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is the universal format for structured documents and data on the Web. This programming course is designed for the working professional to enable successful mastery of XML programming concepts. Students should have previous experience in a programming language and have an understanding of some of the basic principles of object-oriented technology. "XML" by CrossLogic Corp. is the only required text. The course yields one UNCA academic credit. Fees include a visiting student application fee of $20 and tuition and fees of $31.15.
