UNCA to Hold Arts Festival Oct. 4

UNC Asheville will hold an arts festival and dinner from 5-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, across campus. The festival and dinner are part of UNCA’s Founders Day and Family Weekend events.

More than 100 artists will present works ranging from visual arts and dance to music and film at galleries, stages, screening rooms and other sites on and around the Quad. Highlights from the schedule include African, Flamenco and Middle Eastern dance; bluegrass with John Earl and the Pacemakers; poetry with Lori Horvitz and Turner; the popular sounds of Twisted Fate; and photographs, drawings and paintings by UNCA students and alumni. All performances are free and open to the public.

The local Carrabba’s Italian Grill has donated 700 dinners, which will be served al fresco on the Quad. Guest seatings will be at 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Adult dinners are $12 and children’s dinners are $5. To make reservations, please call UNCA’s Development Office at 828/251-6080. Dinner tickets are also available at Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe, Cafe on the Square and Almost Blue in downtown Asheville.
