UNCA to Host Talk on WNC Archaeology

UNC Asheville and the American Institute of Archaeology will present a talk and slide presentation on "Western North Carolina Archaeology" by Anne Rogers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in UNCA’s Owen Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Rogers, who holds a doctorate from the University of Georgia, has been a Western Carolina University faculty member since 1980. Professor and chair of WCU’s anthropology and sociology department, she was recently appointed associate dean of the Honors College. Rogers’ research focuses on southeastern Indians, contemporary Cherokee culture and Cherokee archaeology. She has studied the Cherokee language with a native speaker for many years and is currently examining Cherokee uses of native plants.
