UNCA's Super Saturday Program to Offer Super Classes for Kids Beginning in September

Cartooning, model rocketry and puppetry are among 28 topics offered through UNCA’s 14th annual Super Saturday Program beginning in September. The program, for motivated and gifted 3rd-8th grade students, has helped more than 9,000 children from across Western North Carolina explore their interests through hands-on learning on the UNCA campus.

Science is a special focus this year with courses offered in paleontology, human biology, chemistry, ecology, and meteorology. And as in past years, a variety of classes in math, computers, and the arts will be available.

Several UNCA faculty members and upper-level students teach Super Saturday classes, along with outstanding public school teachers, educators, and professionals.

Super Saturday classes meet 9 a.m. to noon for six Saturdays beginning Sept. 16. Tuition is $55 per class. Deadline to apply is Sept. 6. For information or to request an application, call UNCA’s Office of Special Academic Programs at 828/251-6558 or visit www.unca.edu/sprog/.
