| For Immediate Release May 30, 2000 Locke Named Asheville Graduate Center Director Don C. Locke, director of the North Carolina State University Doctoral Program in Adult Education at the Asheville Graduate Center, has been named Director of the Asheville Graduate Center. Locke’s appointment was approved by the UNC Board of Governors at a recent meeting. "Don Locke is an extraordinary educator who brings a great wealth of experience and wisdom to leadership of the Asheville Graduate Center. I look forward to working with him as he continues to build graduate education opportunities for the people of Western North Carolina," said UNCA Chancellor James H. Mullen. Locke previously served as director for the N.C. State University Department of Counselor Education in Raleigh. He is currently completing a year as president of Chi Sigma Iota International, the honor society for counselors, and will assume the presidency of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision in July. The Asheville Graduate Center of the University of North Carolina provides graduate degree programs for students in western North Carolina. The Graduate Center is administered by the UNC General Administration with offices and classrooms provided by the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Programs offered through the Graduate Center are provided by various universities within the University of North Carolina system.
