Tommy Hays, Abigail DeWitt to Read at UNCA June 25

UNCA's Writers at Home reading series concludes at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 25, with readings by authors Tommy Hays and Abigail DeWitt. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of the Western North Carolina writer's community and UNC Asheville's Creative Writing Program. The program is free and open to the public.

Hays is the author of two novels, "Sam’s Crossing" and "In the Family Way." He is a member of UNCA’s creative writing faculty and also teaches courses in the community.

DeWitt, a graduate of Harvard University and the Iowa Writers’ workshop, has published short stories in Salamander, The Journal and Carolina Quarterly. She is the recipient of a Michener Fellowship from the University of Iowa and has taught at Harvard University, Boston University and UNCA. Her first novel, "Lili," details one woman’s intimate struggle with religious, erotic, maternal and filial passions.
