| For Immediate Release October 23, 2000 UNCA Faculty, Staff and Students
Present UNCA faculty, staff and students will present "Food for Thought," a charitable dance performance to benefit Manna Food Bank, at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in UNCA’s Lipinsky Auditorium. Admission is $5 or four cans of food; food donations will benefit the food bank. More than 60 performers, including guest dancers from Warren Wilson College and Common Ground, will present more than 10 pieces of dance, including modern, ballet, clogging, African and Middle Eastern. "It would be hard to find a concert with more variety of styles and techniques. The program will delight die-hard dance lovers and those exploring the art form for the first time," said Connie Schrader, performance coordinator. The performance coincides with the formation of the UNCA dance minor created earlier this year. The course of study is designed for students who wish develop their personal skill and interest in dance as well as for those who wish to enhance career possibilities through acquiring particular expertise. UNCA’s dance minor is designed to complement the university’s liberal arts focus by encouraging students to consider connections between their major studies and interest in the art and practice of dance.
