College for Seniors Launches Origami, yoga and ecology are among the topics offered through the N.C. Center for Creative Retirement’s College for Seniors summer term beginning July 3. The program, for adults age 50 and older, is designed to make learning fun when full-time work is over, says Cissie Stevens, program director. The college, now in its 11th year, has no grades or tests and little, if any, homework. Students, who attend classes on the UNCA campus, can choose from 17 courses. As in past terms, traditional liberal arts and a wide variety of computer courses will be offered. However, the summer session also offers a number of experiential classes, including a pottery workshop and an outdoor adventure series in kayaking, mountain biking, hiking and white water rafting lead by Nantahala Outdoor Center instructors. College for Seniors classes meet July 3-31. Each class is priced individually and students may take more than one class. For more information or an application, call the College for Seniors at 828/251-6384.
