| For Immediate Release June 27, 2000 UNCA's 18th Annual Concerts on the
Quad Continues July 10 Asheville’s own Billy Jonas, a talented songsmith and multi-instrumentalist, will offer an evening of songs, stories and improvisations with voice, guitar and "industrial re-percussion," a collection of instruments made from found and recycled objects. His carefully crafted songs, adventurous guitar work, clean tenor voice and original instruments have garnered high praise from acoustic music leaders and journals. Jonas will share his unique style of music at a 6:30 p.m. children’s show with an emphasis on audience participation. The 7:45 p.m. show will feature a different set and is suited for the entire family. The public is invited to bring picnics, blankets and lawn chairs. With between 500 and 2,000 people attending each concert, lawn-chair seating will be separate from blanket seating in order to preserve sight lines; please look for signage when arriving on the quad. The rain location is Lipinsky Auditorium, located on the quad. The series finale will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 17. For more information about the Concerts on the Quad series, call the UNCA Student Activities Office at 828/251-6584.
