Jazz and percussion ensembles highlight the UNCA Music Department's April concert series. All events are open to public.

-- The UNCA Student Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Greg Alewine will present a concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in UNCA's Highsmith Center lounge. Performing in an intimate club-like atmosphere, the Ensemble will feature the music of Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea, Charlie Parker and other jazz greats. A donation of $5 to benefit UNCA's Music Department will be suggested at the door.

-- Two UNCA Student Jazz Ensembles under the direction of Mike Barnes will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in UNCA's Highsmith Center lounge. A relaxed jazz club atmosphere will prevail as the students render new arrangements of jazz standards by such artists as John Coltrane, Pat Metheny, Miles Davis and others. A donation of $5 to benefit UNCA's Music Department will be suggested at the door.

-- The UNCA Percussion Ensemble will perform under the direction of Byron Hedgepath at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Lipinsky Hall room 018. The concert will feature music by Carlos Chavez, Fisher Tull, Michael Colgrass and Chick Corea. An Afro-Cuban descarga will also be performed. A donation of $5 to benefit UNCA's Music Department will be suggested at the door.
