UNC Asheville Faculty and Staff Sets Sights on $40,000 Goal for
2009 State Employees Combined Campaign

State employees make a difference in North Carolina every day. But during the month of November, their impact is even greater.

For more than 20 years, the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) has provided a way for state employees to join together in charitable giving to some 900 non-profit organizations. Since the first campaign in 1986, more than $70 million has been raised to benefit North Carolina citizens and communities.

UNC Asheville faculty and staff are no strangers to the SECC. The University has long participated in the statewide program. And despite the economic downturn, last year UNC Asheville faculty and staff donated nearly $40,000.

"This year our goal is to involve more than 40 percent of our campus employees and to raise more than $40,000," said Ann Martin, UNC Asheville SECC Committee member.

Other committee members include Holly Beveridge, Jay Cutspec, Debra Liles, Diane Marlow, Merritt Moseley, Rosie Palmisano, Holly Waltemyer and Ann Weber.

Donation forms were sent to all faculty and staff through campus mail the week of October 19. A campaign kick-off was held on Thursday, Oct. 22, which featured entertainment, refreshments and door prizes as well as remarks by Chancellor Anne Ponder.

Donations will be accepted until November 30. Pledge cards should be mailed to Ann Martin, CPO 1430 or can be turned in at an Express Giving Table located at high traffic areas on campus.

For more information, call Ann Martin at 828/232-5125 or email amartin@unca.edu.
