Banner Project Objectives

The primary objectives of the project are:

1. To define a data classification structure for UNC Asheville which will remediate ITS audit findings.
2. To  place data into categories that will dictate the level of internal controls necessary to protect that data against theft, compromise and inappropriate use.
3. To assess risks associated with handling data.
4. To incorporate data classification into the Disaster Recovery Plan.
5. To define an annual review process.
6. To build an awareness of federal and state statutes and UNC Asheville policies which relate to data security.
