Equal Employment Opportunity Institute and Diversity (EEOI)

Required

2 Offerings. The Equal Employment Opportunity Institute (EEOI) helps managers and supervisors understand important employment discrimination laws and how they impact day-to-day managerial decisions.  Case studies and other activities are used to learn how to apply the laws’ principles to create fair, equitable, and inclusive work environments.  The skills taught in EEOI enable state government managers and supervisors to address complex diversity issues in a legally compliant manner.

Disciplinary Process

Required

1 Offerings. This program helps participants build an effective disciplinary case and practice consistency and fairness in dealing with all employees.  This workshop utilizes a blended-learning approach.  Participants will review background materials on-line, then attend a short classroom session to apply information to actual cases.

Setting Performance Expectations

Required

2 Offerings.  You must attend both Day 1 and Day 2 to successfully complete this course. Achieving business results requires aligning an employee’s individual goals with overall organizational strategy. Leaders must help people see how their efforts contribute to the success— or failure—of the organization.  This course helps leaders drive performance and accountability by helping people understand what is expected of them and gaining their commitment to achieving it. Participants will also gain an understanding of the basic components of North Carolina's Performance Management and Career Banding systems.

Building an Environment of Trust
2 Offerings. Because of the crucial link between trust and business success, leaders must realize the power of trust as a business tool.  In this course, leaders learn how to avoid the trust breakers and take action to create an environment in which people take risks, identify and solve problems, and work together to create and sustain high levels of trust.

Getting Started as a New Leader

2 Offerings. This course arms new leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to confront the challenges associated with getting their footing-and getting results more quickly-in their new leadership role. They learn how to focus their time and efforts on tasks that are most important to the organization's success. New leaders learn an approach that will accelerate their ability to achieve results through others.

Influential Leadership 2 Offerings.  In today’s flatter, ever-evolving organization, leaders need to get things done through people who work outside their line of reporting—and in some cases who even “outrank” them.
