Welcome to the UNC Asheville
Parents & Families Program

Bill Haggard

Dear Parents and Family Members,

On behalf of the UNC Asheville community, I welcome you to the beginning of the second semester.  The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to develop and implement programs and services that foster an inclusive, nurturing, and challenging community in which all students have the opportunity to engage in integrated and transformative learning which prepares them to be productive citizens of a global society and develop a lifelong commitment to learning and personal wellness.  Knowing that parents and family members play a vital role in their student’s success, we value you as true partners in this endeavor.

The Office of Special Programs in the Division of Student Affairs provides direct programs and services to parents and other family members.  Ms. Mary Chakales is the Director of Special Programs and is your liaison to the University on issues related to the parents and other family members of our students.  Please contact Mary at mchakale@unca.edu or 828-232-2417 if you have any questions or concerns.

Please know that we are readily available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have and we look forward to seeing you at Family Weekend.

Sincerely yours,

Bill Haggard, Ed.D.
