UNC Asheville

Chancellor's Advisory
Committee
What is CSAC
Who we represent
The staff at UNC
Asheville is comprised of exemplary professionals, dedicated to
executing their responsibilities at the University with consistent
care. Collectively, we provide the “oil” that makes the wheels of the
university turn. These are the individuals who are represented by CSAC.
The history of staff
organizations
Staff organizations were
instituted within the University of North Carolina system in 1998 by
President Molly Corbett Broad, who felt it important for chancellors to
receive recommendations from the staff regarding issues that impact
their institution. Our chancellor at the time was Patsy Reed who worked
with a group of staff members to develop by-laws and an organization
called the Chancellors Staff Advisory Committee (CSAC).
What we do
CSAC today is not much
different from the CSAC of yesterday. However, CSAC has grown as a
result of past efforts of many dedicated staff representatives. As an
example, in the past, CSAC advocated for the right for staff to be
involved in campus committees. Today, CSAC exercises that right.
Following is a partial list of the committees on which CSAC members
serve. This is a list that is constantly evolving. From time-to-time,
this article will be updated as committees that have already served
their purpose are deleted and those that represent new areas of
involvement are added.
UNC Asheville Board of Trustees
Faculty Senate
University Planning Council
Sexual Harassment Committee
Transportation Committee

If you go to our homepage
csac@unca.edu you will find the minutes from our meetings. These
minutes will bring you up-to-date with what we are doing for the staff
at UNC Asheville.
For CSAC to be effective,
we will need staff cooperation. Although some of you do not have the
time in order to be a representative, you can still contribute your
ideas or suggestions by calling or e-mailing any of our representatives.
I am grateful for this
opportunity to share this information with you today. Please call or
e-mail me 251-6556,
jleffe@unca.edu any time, or any CSAC representative. We will do
all that we can to either answer or find someone who is able to answer
your questions.
Best Regards,
Judi Leffé
