Director's Message
As director of the CJS since 1992, I’ve been privileged to watch our programming grow over the years. In consultation with the advisory board, I plan our annual series of public events, make arrangements for visiting scholars, writers, filmmakers, musicians, and other guests to visit classes and meet with students in other venues while they are on campus. I coordinate annual academic course offerings in Jewish Studies (these courses are housed in appropriate academic departments, such as religious studies, classics, history, and literature and language). I also am the official point of contact between the Jewish community and the campus. My service is director of the CJS counts as a significant part of university service. In addition to directing the CJS, I am a professor of literature and language and I direct UNCA’s Creative Writing Program.
