Participating in UNC Asheville’s StudyAbroad/Study Away program is an ideal complement to the liberal arts education. Students have the opportunity to study at another university for a summer, a semester or a year, and expand their horizons, both academically and culturally. UNC Asheville offers programs both internationally (Study Abroad) and domestically (Study Away) at affordable prices, allowing students to earn credits toward their degrees.
UNC Asheville students must have completed their freshman year to be eligible to study abroad/study away. The majority of students go during the second semester of their sophomore year or during their junior year, although students can also go during their senior year.
UNC Asheville has affiliations with more than 35 different countries in Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe and Central and South America. Depending on your interests and academic qualifications, UNC Asheville will help you find a program to meet your needs. Additionally, UNC Asheville is a member of the National Student Exchange, which allows opportunities for students to study at more than 170 universities in 48 different states in the United States and Canada at prices comparable to what you would pay at UNC Asheville.
UNC Asheville offers numerous exchange programs that allow a student to pay their regular tuition and fees at UNC Asheville and not have to pay overseas or out of state tuition and fees. Obviously, travel costs will add to your overall costs, but studying abroad or studying away does not have to be out of reach financially for students.
UNC Asheville offers many study abroad/study away programs, including:
